6th Annual Brew Cup 2007 Astoria, Oregon
Another great event, the 2007 Brew Cup in Astoria Oregon was enjoyed by all those that attended. Set in downtown Astoria off 12th and Duane street, the new Astoria public square was the site for the festival. Around 30 brews were served. Dancing, live music, and food vendors were also present. The weather was nice on Friday as we dodged the incoming rain. Saturday was a mix of rain showers but dried out in the evening. Unfortunately Sunday was totally rained out so that scheduled day was cancelled. Among the breweries present was the local Astoria Brewing Company from the Wet Dog cafe and Brew Pub, located on the water front at 11th street in Astoria. The head brewer, John Dahlgren, had a Wet Hop IPA and a Porter on tap for the event. Also the new Fort George Brew Pub with Brewers Chris Nemlowill and Jack Harris were there to offer two of their brews, Vortex IPA and Quick Wit. The first keg to blow was the Wet Hop IPA from Astoria Brewery, earning it the "thar she blows" award. John also took peoples choice award for the same beer, "Wet Hop IPA" Be sure and stop in to sample some of these fine Ales that these local brew pubs are offering the next time your in Astoria.
A special thanks to Chris and Jennifer Holen, owners of the Baked Alaska and Schooners restaurants for organizing this event. Also to Jennifer's parents, Linda and Greg, who always help staff this event and make it happen!

Entrance from the street.

Great music was played both days!

Some last minute pictures were taken by Linda Saturday night. Although there were rain showers on Saturday, it was another fun event. If you have not been to Astoria for the brew fest, you should make plans for the last weekend of September of 2008. Great music, food and no waiting in long lines for beer tasting makes for a relaxed fun event!
