The new Fort George Brew Pub in Astoria,( http://fortgeorgebrewery.com/,) has been open since the spring of 2007.  This Brewery is a Joint venture between Chris Nemlowill and Jack Harris, formally Head brewer at Bill's Tavern and Brew Pub in Nearby Cannon Beach.   See my Pub review page: http://www.deerislandbrewery.com/ftgeorgebrew.htm.  They will have a beer or two at the upcoming Pacific NW Brew Cup beer fest, in downtown Astoria.  See details below.

 AHA Big Brew Day At The Deer Island Homebrewery.

A day of simultaneous brewing across the globe in honor of National Homebrew Day, celebrated every year on the first Saturday in May. 

Will you be brewing at the Deer Island site this May?  A few of us are making plans, but this time the only notice for this event for our club members is right here in "News and Events"  That is what this page is for after all.  We fire up the kettles at 9am and brew till 6pm  This brew event is also open to any non-club members who want to see the brewing process, or participate.  Send me an Email if you need directions and want to attend.

Token & mug sales cease 1/2 hour prior to closing

Admission: Free, but a 2008 souvenir 14-ounce mug is $5 and is required for tasting. Mugs from previous years are not accepted. Tokens are required for beer. Tokens cost $1 apiece. 
Description: Celebrating its 21st year in 2008, the Oregon Brewers Festival is North America's largest gathering of independent brewers. 
Points of Interest: The event features home brewers demonstrating their craft, hop grower exhibits, maltsters; beer writers; and a display of Northwest breweriana.
The Mt. Angel Root Beer Garden offers cups of free hand-crafted root beer and other flavored sodas to children and designated drivers.

Seven local restaurants offer light meals and snacks.

Live musical entertainment is offered throughout the weekend.

Free bicycle parking is offered each day, courtesy of the Bicycle Transportation Alliance.

Minors are permitted when accompanied by a parent.

Animals are not allowed on the festival grounds except ADA

7th annual Pacific Northwest Brew Cup in Astoria, Oregon.

The festival will be held downtown near the Elliot Hotel on 12th street.   Live music, street dance, food venders, many Pacific NW breweries present.  

Hours: Friday noon to 10 pm
        Saturday  noon to 10 pm
         Sunday    noon to 4 pm  (Sunday the location will be moved south 1 block off Duane street to make room for Sunday market) 

$ 6.00 entrance fee to get in, includes pint glass for samples.  $1.00 tokens for tasters.
